john and nola had baby ava christened at st. matthews catholic church downtown. john’s friend, who passed away a few years ago, painted the ceiling of this church. it was a really neat ceremony. our family attended mass before the christening and although i was totally lost at times, it was more enjoyable than a lot of church services i have been to in the past.

last saturday night, i went out with some of friends from work (kiandra, lilly, and maria). we went to the hookin’ bull with the intention of riding the bull. i managed to get away without riding it but kiandra and maria were troopers and held up their end of the deal. we had a lot of fun and made the most of the country western environment.
monroe speedway overload

we went to the monroe speedway because it was free entry if you wore a ULM t-shrit or showed your ULM id. we thought it would be an interesting experience (i found out that my aunt judy used to drag race). we got there about 30 minutes early to find not a single place to sit. we were left with the option on standing on the ground level of the track and holding our ears. i left annoyed with the whole thing and happy i didn’t pay $10 to get in

we heard this song on the way to florida (overnight drive last thursday). my dad has been singing this song ever since then. my mom hates it.
a little after dinner entertainment in the masters household. my dad showed us how to “pop” a rose petal and we all had to give it a try. we are the self proclaimed petal poppers and we plan to expand this into a sport.
there was a conversation prior to the petal popping in which we disputed what color the rose was. i said hot/highlighter pink. my mom and dad said orange. i thought for sure that bringing jessica in to the mix would secure at least a tie on this topic. her response was “red orange.” defeated.

saag paneer (i tried to explain to my family that you can’t just MAKE saag in a few hours. but with the internet they feel they can do anything. they understood what i meant after we started eating it. it was actually not so bad if you just mix it all together.)
my dad has a goal of making good naan. so far he’s gotten close with good air pockets and crust a few times. this night he was not pleased with the results.

she came a little late to the club but she brought the party attitude for real. just watching maria dance made me realize that 1) i cannot dance 2) i don’t have to dance, i can just watch her and have just as much fun.
met kiandra at the spirit gas station. she was definitely dressed for the evening. i was fortunate to get away with wearing jeans and flats.
as i was taking this photo a guy was asking us for change. kiandra told him she didn’t have any. he then asked me and she answered for me…”she lives with her parents! she don’t have any money either.” hah thanks.
the gas station across from oasis daiquiris (drive through daiquiri place in town…one of many). all i can make out from this sign is something about hennessy. met kiandra and sherita at this gas station and then headed to the club.
